Wawa seeks emergency funds from province

The town of Wawa, Ont., will ask the provincial government for tens of millions of dollars in disaster relief funding after heavy rains prompted a state of emergency and forced the evacuation of a nearby Native reserve.

'Surreal' flooding cuts off Wawa, Ont.

Flooding caused by heavy rain and overflowing creeks and lakes washed away sections of the Trans-Canada Highway north and south of Wawa, Ont., sent a motel crashing into a sink hole and knocked out phone service.
