Missed Johnny Reid when he played Meridian Centre last year? You’ll get another chance in April.

The Scotland-born country singer is heading back to St. Catharines April 7 as part of his 44-date Revival tour. Joining him will be his longtime big band The Soul Providers, and Juno-winning opening act Glass Tiger.

It marks the first major artist to book a return date at the three-year-old Meridian Centre.

“It means we are doing something right,” says spokeswoman Kay Meilleur. “They love our building and, more importantly, they love the fans in Niagara.

“Johnny had such a successful show at the Meridian Centre last time and we can’t wait to welcome him back.”

Reid, who moved to Brampton in his early teens, found stardom after university when he headed to Nashville with his wife.

Twenty years after his debut, he has sold more than 1.5 million albums and won six Juno Awards, including for country album of the year in 2013 for Fire It Up.

He has dominated the Canadian Country Music Association Awards for more than a decade, winning 26 times.

His latest album, Revival, was released Friday.

The Canadian tour starts Feb. 26 in Sidney, B.C., and wraps up April 24 in St. John’s, N.L.

Like last time, fan club members will get first crack at tickets Monday at 10 a.m., followed by general pre-sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. Tickets for the general public go on sale Friday, 10 a.m., and at the BayShore box office, located inside Meridian Centre, on Nov. 13 at noon.

Tickets will be $42.75 to $77.75, plus applicable charges, available at www.ticketmaster.ca or by phone at 1-855-985-5000.

“We continue to work hard on bringing more great acts here,” says Meilleur, “and fans can be on the lookout for another big announcement soon.”
