Martha Beroud couldn’t have asked for a better turn out at this year’s Lions Sugar Bowl Park Walk and Roll.
“I think we had over more than double the people that attended last year, the executive director of South Niagara Life Ministries said.
More than 150 people attended the annual event at Sugar Bowl Park, which is the main fundraiser for the Christian charity.
“I am not sure of the exact totals, but I think we raised over $15,000 (Saturday),” Beroud said.
“More donations will come in during the next month from people who couldn’t attend (Saturday’s) event but still want to make a contribution.”
The Walk and Roll featured a five km walk in the park, followed by a barbecue, a tree dedication, live music, and children’s activities.
All of the proceeds help South Niagara Life Ministries provide free counseling for anyone who needs it, regardless of their age or religion from its office on Gilmore Rd.
Beroud said she is grateful for all of the support the charity receives.
“We count on this fundraiser every year because we don’t receive any type of funding from the government.”
