The Canadian Motor Speedway, a $150-million world class motor sports and entertainment development to be situated on 820 acres of land in Fort Erie, has entered into partnership with Aecon Group Inc., one of Canada’s largest publicly traded construction companies.
The announcement was made by the project’s executive director and partner, Azhar Mohammad, and Teri McKibbon, chief operating officer for Aecon.
“We look forward to working with Aecon as a partner to ensure our development is built to the highest standards,” said Mohammad.
Aecon, as the project’s construction manager, will oversee the entire 820-acre development by identifying qualified local construction resources, administration of construction program activities, and management of contractors. It will ensure a timely completion with the targeted cost.
“We are thrilled to be working with Canadian Motor Speedway and pleased to bring our expertise to the development of this world class racetrack,” said Teri McKibbon, Aecon’s chief operating officer.
The speedway project is adjacent to the QEW within minutes from the Canadian/U.S. border at Buffalo and 15 minutes from Niagara Falls.
The core of the project consists of a standalone 1.6-kilometre, Jeff Gordon-designed signature speedway.
